Shri Nikhil Kumar Jain, Director (Personnel), Shri Ekramul Haque, General Manager (Human Resources) and Shri Gaurav Kumar, Deputy General Manager (Environment) attended the Joint Certificate Course on “Improved Management of Land Acquisition, Resettlement & Rehabilitation (LARR) organized by the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Hyderabad and National Research Centre for Resettlement (NRCR) Hohai University, Nanjing, China. During the course, the officers visited Three Gorges Project (22,500 MW), the World’s largest Hydropower Project along with other hydropower and pump storage projects in China viz. Gezhouba Dam ( 2715 MW), Yichang, Tianmuhu Pump Storage Project (1836 MW), Niyang etc. The course served as an ideal platform to understand the Land Acquisition, Resettlement and Livelihood restoration initiatives being undertaken by China, which has the largest numbers of dams in the world, with special reference to the Three Gorges Project.
An employee awareness session was also organized by the Training and Development Division on 9.07.2019 to share the experience of the participants on their visit to China. During the session, comprehensive insight was provided on the Three Gorges Project, its importance in respect of flood control, navigation, drinking water, tourism, environment conservation, fishery management etc. Special focus was on the initiatives taken by the Chinese Government in the area of Land Acquisition, Resettlement & Rehabilitation, Skill Development, Livelihood assistance etc. Actual site photographs and videos were shared by the participants to elucidate the Chinese initiatives and best practices on above issues.
